Spira Spica is back with "Ao to Kirameki" (アオとキラメキ / lit. "Blue and Sparkle") as the new opening theme of My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 (その着せ替え人形は恋をする / Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru). Mikiha (幹葉), the vocalist and primary songwriter for the band, composed the song and wrote the lyrics, while the arrangement is handled by Hiroshi Seike (清家 寛), who also programs the synthesizer. The single is slated for August 6, 2025 release, while the anime premiere and opening theme debuted in early July.

To say that the song is energetic is an understatement. Its tempo clocks in at 173 BPM, with rhythmic energy that's unparalleled by other opening themes of Summer 2025 I've heard so far. The tempo, paired with many quick jumps in melody, automatically makes the piano arrangement difficult. As with most of my piano covers, I tried to replicate the feel, rhythm, and important elements as best as I can on the piano, and thus the Marasy-inspired left-hand jumps also makes a comeback in this arrangement.

My Dress-Up Darling is one of my most favourite 2022 anime. From the opening animation alone, we can already see that Marin develops a further crush towards Gojo. I can't wait to see how the pair's relationship would develop. Studio CloverWorks did a stellar job at adapting and animating this series.
