Scott Joplin's friends from St. Louis, brothers Tom and Charles Turpin, owned a stake in a mine in Searchlight, Nevada, and were said to have hit a copper vein there in 1906. Hence the title of this well done rag, published by Joseph Stern in New York in 1907.
